Bharat Forge’s Big Leap: First-Ever Indian Artillery Deal with the US

Historic Collaboration in Defence

In a major development, Bharat Forge, through its wholly owned subsidiary Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL), has entered into a significant agreement with AM General, a US-based defence company. The two companies signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) during the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2025) in Abu Dhabi.

This marks the first time an Indian defence company will supply advanced artillery cannons to the United States, strengthening the growing defence cooperation between the two nations.

Made-in-India Artillery for Global Defence

Under this partnership, KSSL and AM General will provide a range of artillery solutions designed and manufactured in India. These include:

  • Mounted artillery systems
  • Towed gun systems
  • Ultra-light gun systems

The deal covers two key artillery calibres—105mm and 155mm—both widely used in modern military operations.

This collaboration is a testament to India’s growing defence manufacturing capabilities and its ability to meet international standards. It also supports the government’s “Make in India” initiative, which promotes indigenous defence production and exports.

Bharat Forge’s Defence Business on the Rise

Bharat Forge’s defence segment has shown impressive growth. The company reported:

•₹337 crore revenue in Q3FY25

•₹1,488 crore revenue in 9MFY25 (a 49% year-on-year increase)

•New orders worth approximately ₹100 crore in Q3FY25

With these latest orders, Bharat Forge’s defence order book has reached a massive ₹5,700 crore, reinforcing its position as a key player in the sector.

Future Outlook: Strong Defence, Muted Auto Growth

While the defence segment is thriving, Bharat Forge has indicated a slower growth outlook for its automotive component business. The company’s domestic and export markets for automotive components are facing near-term challenges, keeping overall growth in check.

Despite this, the recent defence collaborations, including the agreement with AM General, signal a strong future for Bharat Forge in the defence industry. The company is expected to continue expanding in this space, leveraging its expertise and manufacturing capabilities.

Final Words:

This historic artillery supply agreement is expected to have a positive impact on Bharat Forge’s growth. With increasing global demand for high-quality defence equipment, the company is well-positioned to strengthen its presence in the international market.

As Bharat Forge continues to innovate and expand its defence business, this deal marks a major milestone in India’s journey as a global defence exporter.
