Former PM Manmohan Singh Passes Away at 92 | Architect of Economic Reforms

Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress leader passed away in New Delhi at the age of 92. He was admitted to the emergency department of AIIMS hospital on Thursday evening, where he breathed his last.

Late Manmohan Singh served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, leading the country for a decade with a focus on economic growth and development. Earlier this year, in April, he retired from his role as a Rajya Sabha member, marking the end of his illustrious political career.

During his tenure as Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, under the leadership of then-Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, he played a pivotal role in shaping India’s economic trajectory. He is remembered as one of the key architects of India’s economic reforms, which ushered in a new era of liberalization, globalization, and economic modernization. These reforms helped dismantle the socialist-era policies and opened the Indian economy to the global market.
