New Delhi: Hyundai Motor India has announced its ambitious plan to establish 600 public EV fast charging stations across India by 2030. As part of this initiative, the company aims to set up 50 fast charging stations by December 2024, laying the foundation for a robust EV infrastructure.
Jae Wan Ryu, Function Head – Corporate Planning, HMIL, emphasized the growing importance of EV infrastructure to address customer concerns. “Our studies show that many EV users hesitate to travel long distances due to inadequate charging facilities on highways. To overcome this, we are setting up fast EV chargers on key highways and in major cities,” he said.
Hyundai is actively investing in charging infrastructure to meet the rising demand for electric vehicles. The company’s existing network has already supported approximately 50,000 charging sessions, delivering over 7.30 lakh units of energy to more than 10,000 Hyundai and non-Hyundai EV users.
Hyundai has also partnered with the Tamil Nadu government through an MoU to build 100 EV charging stations in the state by 2027, with 10 of these stations expected to be operational by the end of 2024. Currently, three charging stations are functional at Spencer Plaza and BSR Mall in Chennai, and Hotel Seasons in Tiruvannamalai. EV users can easily locate and access these 24×7 facilities via the myHyundai app, which also connects users to over 10,000 EV charging points across India.
To create a nationwide EV charging network, Hyundai has strategically installed chargers in key cities such as Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Chennai. The company has also established charging points on major highways, including Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Jaipur, Mumbai-Pune, Hyderabad-Vijayawada, and Bengaluru-Pune.
This initiative underscores Hyundai’s commitment to promoting electric mobility and addressing infrastructure challenges in India’s transition to a sustainable future.
