Google has announced the appointment of Preeti Lobana as its new Country Manager and Vice President for India, succeeding interim head Roma Datta Chobey. Lobana’s appointment comes at a crucial time, marking Google as the second major technology company in India, after Meta, to appoint a woman to lead its operations in the country.
Preeti Lobana, a seasoned leader in the tech industry, brings a wealth of experience to this role. Before taking over as India head, she served as Vice President overseeing Google’s publisher, partner, ads content teams, and gTech (Google Technical Services). Lobana steps into this role following the promotion of Sanjay Gupta, her predecessor, who was elevated earlier this year to President of Google Asia Pacific.

Preeti Lobana is known for her exceptional leadership skills and customer-centric approach, which have fueled impactful strategies and business solutions across various industries. She has spent over eight years at Google, playing a vital role in delivering transformative digital solutions to businesses. Her work in collaborating with Google’s product teams and understanding the needs of customers has earned her a reputation as a results-driven leader.
Lobana holds vast expertise in managing large-scale operations and driving technological innovation, which will be pivotal as she takes charge of Google’s India operations. Her efforts have consistently empowered businesses to leverage the power of the internet and thrive in the digital economy.

Gupta praised Chobey’s expertise, saying, “Roma’s knowledge across diverse sectors will be invaluable as we accelerate innovation and growth for these businesses.”
India’s Growing Digital Landscape
India remains one of Google’s most significant markets, with its expanding internet user base and growing adoption of digital solutions.
