November 11th, 2022: Today is the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and we celebrate it as National Education Day.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad has contributed a lot for Indian education system and the country. Hence on 11th September 2008, the HRD ministry of India has decided to celebrate November 11th as National Education Day.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was the first education minister of India, freedom fighter, quit India movement activist, poet, journalist, Islamic theologian and writer.
In 1956, he appointed as the president of the UNESCO General Conference held in Delhi. The largest contribution of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was the first Indian Institute of Technology (IIT, Kharagpur Kharagpur, 1951).
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad died on 22 February 1958 (aged 69) Delhi, India. The reason f death was stroke.
Later in 1992 he was awarded by BHARAT RATNA, highest civilian award of the Republic of India.
