Thursday, 10 November: World Science Day for Peace and development is celebrated every year on 10 November. World Science Day for Peace and Development is approved by executive body of UNESCO’s. The main role behind celebrating this day is to promote the role played by scientist for making our society more sustainable. The purpose of this day is to make people aware about the developments and relevance of science in our daily lives that affect everyone in the world.

The theme for 2022 World Science Day for Peace and Development is, “Basic Science for Sustainable Development”.

History

The First World conference on science held in 1999 in Hungary was organized by UNESCO and international Council for Science. At that conference an action planned was formed called “Science Agenda”- Framework for Action.

In 2001 UNESCO announced World science Day For peace and Development. Therefore in 2002 ,10 November World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated worldwide.

Significance

The main significance of World Science Day for Peace and Development is to ensure the society about the use of science to achieve peace worldwide. This day ensure that people should highlights the latest achievement of science which help them in becoming sustainable society.
